The West Coast has rugged mountains, magnificent rivers and ancient rainforests, including huon pines. The famous Overland Track ends at Lake St Clair.
Queenstown is an historic town with a strong mining heritage. Strahan was the base for the Franklin River Blockade in 1982-1983 which resulted in an historic conservation outcome. The town is now a vibrant tourism centre and the starting point for cruises on the Gordon River.
The West Coast has wild beaches including Ocean Beach near Strahan.
